Gangtok, Mar 4: Chief Secretary Rinchen Ongmu has urged all heads of department to submit their action taken report on Chief Minister’s 42-day village to village tour of 2011 at the earliest. As of today total only 23 departments have submitted their report. The commitments given by the Chief Minister during the 42 days tour should be taken very seriously by the Heads of the departments, she said in the first coordination meeting after taking over as chief secretary at Chintan Bhawan here today. Ongmu also thanked the state government and the Chief Minister for having giving the opportunity of shouldering the responsibility. She also urged everyone to feel free to interact with her in their day to day activity and share their opinions and experiences in the interest of the state. This is a learning process and I am also a part of it, she said. The Chief Secretary dealing about various administrative matters categorically asked the Heads of the Departments to give their personnel attention in matters like court cases, RTI cases and correspondence from Government of India. She asked them to go in for surprise check of the attendance of the officers and staff to ensure punctuality in the office. She also talked about the establishment of Grievances Redressal Cell in each and every department as announced by the Chief Minister in the recently concluded Assembly session. The Chief Secretary also enquired about the progress made on the various projects of the state government and asked the departmental heads to walk into each other’s room to sort out problems, if any and take out solutions instead of writing on the files. She also dealt in detail about the activities taken on the rehabilitation and reconstruction process of the 18 September, 2011 earthquake and also floated the idea of having a training of the Indian and the State’s civil, forest and police service officers about the state rules and laws.
